ARM Technology Access Partner
|
| In 1999, Wipro Technologies
became the second ARM-approved third party design
center in the ARM ATAPTM technology access program.
The ATAP agreement enables us to utilize ARM technology
in the design of complex ARM processor based System-on-Chips,
for customers who are existing or potential ARM
licensees. Leveraging on our extensive intellectual
property (IP) portfolio, systems knowledge and experience
with ARM cores and technology, we are targeting
specific vertical markets with System-on-Chip solutions
that meet a superset of application needs. These
are predominantly low-power, high performing, consumer
application devices for the mobile and Internet
world. |

Symbian
Competency Centre |
| We have entered
into a strategic partnership with Symbian, a company
engaged in creating the standard platform for next
generation wireless devices. The
Wipro Symbian Competence Centre will deliver
design and development services for Smart phones
and the Mobile Computing market. We are amongst
the eleven leading software development and system
integration companies initially appointed by Symbian. |

Foundry alliances |
| We have forged strategic
alliances, not only to provide customers with a
comprehensive and advanced system-on-chip/ ASIC
design, but also offer the complete embedded solution
they need to rapidly take a product to market. Our
SoC/ASIC designs can be delivered as market ready
products through our specialized VLSI design groups
that perform complete system-level product development
and then support designs through to silicon production
at partner foundries like TSMC and Hyundai. |

Foundry alliances |
| UMC is a world-leading
semiconductor foundry that manufactures advanced
process ICs for applications spanning every major
sector of the semiconductor industry. UMC delivers
the cutting-edge foundry technologies that enable
sophisticated system-on-chip (SOC) designs, including
0.13-micron copper/low k, embedded DRAM, and mixed
signal/RFCMOS. In addition, UMC is a leader in 300mm
manufacturing with three 300mm fabs strategically
located worldwide to serve our global customer base:
Trecenti Technologies in Japan, Fab 12A in Taiwan,
and UMCi in Singapore (completion in 2002). UMC
employs over 8,500 people worldwide and has offices
in Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Europe, and the United
States. |
