engagement, with this client, began by verifying
and validating the conformance of the client’s
handsets to GSM and WAP standards. The team updated
their skills and test approach to match the advances
of technologies in the mobile handset arena.
Wipro started the engagement by identifying the
exact test instruments like DRTS, CRTC, Gateways
etc. Inspite of the new technology and the non
availability of reference test solutions, Wipro
did the test design to validate the product taking
care of all the possible scenarios.
Wipro used its evolving testing process framework
for Mobile Protocol and Application Conformance
Test . This framework included Inter-Vendor Performance
testing, Field Trial and Drive Test (Collection
of Key performance readings, verifying cell selection
– re cell selection and handovers), and
Pre-certification testing. Wipro did the review
of test specifications, checklists and test reports
to ensure quality verification.
The test environment included GSM/GPRS lab network,
live network and test environment for code coverage
and memory leaks. 3G testing was predominantly
conducted in Europe
Wipro re-used about 4000 generic test cases for
mobile handset applications and protocols thereby
reducing the product verification time.
