The client
The client is a subsidiary of the world’s leading manufacturer of comprehensive cabin system solutions for passenger aircrafts.
 
The challenge

Sophisticated embedded electronic systems for the cabin of the largest passenger aircraft were being developed by the client. New electronic systems like a water treatment system were being introduced.

Due to cost pressures, stringent development schedules and unavailability of engineering resources, the client was looking for a co-engineering partner for prototype development and series production.

Complete product development
Wipro architected the complete hardware including analog and digital circuits, printed circuit board design and housing based on RTCA DO-254 standard.

Onboard systems software was developed based on RTCA DO-178B/ED-12B guidelines on software considerations in airborne systems and equipment certification. This, ensured the reliability of the software, and also addressed the issues involved in certification of the onboard system.

Wipro handled all product qualification tests to make the product flight-ready and supported the electronic system integration into the water treatment unit to be installed into the aircraft. A fully functional prototype was developed for demonstration to the end customer within a short time.

Mature program management processes
Software requirement specifications changed several times because of changes in the prime pump motor system coming up during the development cycle and also due to functional changes coming from the end customer.

Mature software engineering methodologies and a strong change management process was used to manage changes during development cycle in a cost effective way.
