| The customer |
| A leading semiconductor processing
equipment manufacturer based in USA producing a
wide range of equipments covering the different
stages of the silicon wafer processing |
| |
| Challenges |
| Wipro’s association with
the client started in Feb 2001. Since then Wipro
has been involved in developing new products, and
supporting the existing products. The client was
new to the concept of software outsourcing of critical
control systems. The software engineering processes
of the client were not well established. Wipro’s
lack of domain knowledge was one of the weak areas.
The challenge was to establish a system where the
client could outsource critical components of the
software development and maintenance |

| Benefits to customer |
| Within a short span the client
has gained the confidence to outsource work on critical
real time modules such as process chambers, motion
controllers, lifters, pressure subsystems, gas panels,
factory automation, host control, etc. The work
is extended to other geographies (UK) also. The
client has benefited from Wipro’s strong processes
and self-initiatives like six sigma. Wipro’s
processes has resulted in faster development of
the products like simulators, seamless upgrades
of the legacy systems to the new technologies, etc. |
