A Biometrics based Authentication Server Development

The customer

A Security Software company in network and protocol security. The company’s credo is to create new technologies that provide enhanced security and authentication while working with current hardware and network protocol configurations. The company’s unique offering being introduced in the market was a mobile bio-token for biometric authentication.

The challenge

Its flagship product uses three factor authentication that uses a person's biometric data to truly authenticate their identity. The customer helps organizations solve the problems associated with ongoing system authentication. They enable mobile digital identities to be used in many different situations where users, systems or processes interact. The customer wanted to develop a robust and scalable Authentication Server that would support their Biometric Services based authentication over LDAP protocol. Wipro catered to the customer’s needs by designing and developing an Authentication Server with the Digital Certificate Transfer Protocol (DCTP).

The solution

The development project was executed from offshore and Wipro team was responsible for the design, development, testing and delivery of the solution, which included:

	Implementation of a proprietary protocol for user certificates download
	Development of a common proxy to handle HTTP, SMTP, IMAP, POP3 protocols for secure email and web transactions
	Integration of Authentication Server with existing directories containing standard user profiles
	Development of an Administration Module for user management, bio-token management and proxy-rule management
	Development of an Enrollment module for self registration of users, BioToken initialization and BioToken authentication
	Development of a module for enabling desktop authentication based on BioToken
