The customer
The client is one of the world's leading e-business intelligence* (e-BI) solution provider. Its products are aimed at improving the performance of an e-business by providing reporting and analysis against the ever-expanding amount of transaction and profile data that is collected each day throughout the World Wide Web.

* The term e-business intelligence can be described as the intersection of business intelligence and the Internet. Using e-business intelligence, organizations can access, analyze, and share information in Intranet, Extranet, and e-business environments.

 
The challenge
Large code base - 600 Kilo lines of product source code was to be converted from AIX platform to Japanese
Converted product had to be ready for benchmark testing in four months for the client to gain time-to-market advantage
Achieve global service rate of 98%
Perform QA of a Japanese product
 
The solution
The team developed a detail conversion plan identifying all the points in the source code that needs to be localized
Considering huge code base & tight schedules, conversion was performed in iterations
Conversion of the entire product was done in the first few iterations of coding and testing and the later iterations were used to perform bug fixing & regression testing to stabilize the product
Achieved full conversion of product on time with desired global service rate (of 98 %)
Localization issues were addressed effectively by using Japanese language capabilities of the QA team to perform high quality testing
Enabled the client to meet all product release commitments and schedules
