| The optical
network is usually segmented as metro and long
haul. Metro is the segment that sits between the
access network and the long haul network and is
the area which is seeing growth in the optical
domain. The multi-service provisioning platform
typically falls into this area with its variety
of service interfaces and with a mini DCS and
ADM all rolled into one. Some of the products
in this space also have DWDM interfaces. Rings
are the most preferred configuration in the metro
space. The long haul network is characterized
by the presence of multi-channel DWDM at rates
as high as OC-192. The configurations are predominantly
mesh here.
Wipro has extensive experience in working with
equipment vendors across all tiers with feature
development on product lines covering SONET ADMs,
optical cross-connects and MSPP platforms and
verification services including DWDM systems.
We have a very strong hardware development practice
using which we do integrated feature development
where the hardware and associated software are
developed by us and then delivered to the customer
for integration.
