Case Study

Development of an automotive multimedia reference platform comprising a processor and DSP is developed in record time.

Our client
A world leader in digital signal processing and analog technologies, and enabler of semiconductor technology solutions.

The challenge

The customer possessed a DSP system that ran multimedia software like MP3 player, FM/AM radio and Bluetooth™. The company wanted to develop a user interface (that would be run by the ARM processor) and a Human Machine Interface (HMI) that could be integrated with the multimedia applications.

The solution
The Wipro team worked with the customer to develop the user interface and the HMI as well as integrate it with the multimedia applications for the reference platform.

The following applications were developed:
MP3 player
Digitized FM/AM radio
Audio control
Bluetooth™
Voice recognition software

The project was executed on a 32 bit microcontroller unit with WIN CE 2.12 as the operating system.

Since the client had to bring the product to the market very quickly, there was an extremely tight project schedule. In addition, there was no existing standard communication protocol that could control the multimedia software, which ran on the DSP from the ARM processor.

The Wipro team successfully executed the project in a record time. This enabled the client to exhibit the reference platform and acquire new customers. In addition to integrating the multimedia applications and developing the user interface, a standard communication protocol was also established to control the multi-media software running on the DSP from the ARM processor.
